Gameplay

Unusually for a Megaways slot release there is no Extra Reel at the top of the reels in Monopoly Megaways featuring Wilds to complete winning combinations. Instead, the Wilds appear on the reels in the shape of Golden Ms set against a rainbow background.

It’s proof, at least, that Megaways slots are evolving to bring us a fresh experience every time. They substitute for all symbols, and with no Scatters to worry about it’s all around substituting for the game symbols to complete winning combos. Every time you score a win the trademark Reactions take place, popping winning combos and allowing further symbols to fall in their place. But each win also sends Mr. Moneybags around the board. Each property he lands on we automatically collect a house.

When we have collected five houses on a property we launch the Free Spins feature, awarding 8 free spins. But each time we land on a Utility - the Water Works or Electric Company - we earn an additional +1 win multiplier for the next feature. Each time we land on a train station before we trigger the feature adds an extra spin to our starting number of free spins.

If you could have one gripe with the Monopoly Megaways slot it is that you have to land on Go in order to earn a guaranteed Megaways spin, but at least that is a bonus (even if it is a bonus we would like to see more often!).

Verdict

While you might think the chances of triggering the Free Spins bonus round is slim given the fact you have to build five houses on a property before you can trigger the feature, landing a Chance Card can also trigger the Free Spins feature. Plus Community Chests can speed Mr. Moneybags along to land on properties already populated with houses, speeding up the process. But if you are playing the long game then this could well be the slot for you.

When you have been around the board a few times you can be looking at triggering continuous Free Spins features until the cows come home. And then you will be laughing all the way to the bank.
