For a slot that boasts beasts and jungle fever, we’re surprised that there’s not much green on view. Perhaps that’s all being reserved for Irish based slots. Instead, the focus here is on the elements. While we do have a jungle background, it’s a backdrop of a waterfall with clouds floating above, green hills to the side and the glowing embers of plants front and centre.

A focus on the elements indeed! This theme continues with the slot’s symbols as we see various gems containing one of the elements – a Fire, Snowflake and Leaf for example. As for the other symbols, they come in various coloured gems, such as blue and red with a high paying Diamond one to keep an eye out for.

When the slot initially loads up, we see the Lion and the Wolf as the main icons of the game, and they act as such on the slot. The Wolf is our Wild while the Lion is the bonus symbol. Fitting for the king of the jungle.

Gameplay

Elemental Beasts is a simple slot to play, across five reels and 20 paylines. What makes it more interesting than other slots is that the symbols float on screen, rather than remaining in a rigid payline structure. The nifty animations and flash of colours also brighten up the experience. Even better, the various bonus features brighten it up further. For instance, at any time during the game we can trigger the Extra Bonus

Chance, which gives us a spin of the reels with a higher chance of triggering the Free Spins. Nice. Nicer still is the Spin Chance, which lets us bet whatever we like if our bankroll goes under the minimum bet. Once we’re back to our pre-set level, we can continue on spinning and winning.

And let’s not forget the big Free Spins feature, triggered by landing six or more of the stacked Lion Scatters. We can play in different levels during this round, beginning in Fire Mode, before moving to Ice Mode which replaces Wilds with Scatters! It’s chaotic, it’s fun and it’s exactly what we’d expect when pitting a wolf and lion against each other.

Verdict

SG Digital don’t go down the same route as other jungle-based slots with Elemental Beasts. They could easily shove cute and cuddly animals down our throats, but instead this game plays on the subtle nature of elements which makes it a beguiling slot to watch, let alone play. There’s plenty going on here to enchant even the most casual of slots players.
