If you were going to design an Egyptian slot, where would you set the reelcase? In an ancient tomb, perhaps? Or outside an ancient temple? Gameplay

The regular symbol payouts are decent enough in Legacy of Dead, keeping us ticking over while we hunt for the big bonus wins. When we play 10 payline slots, we have to make the most of the opportunities we get. Thankfully, the Wild symbol occurs readily, and while it doesn’t offer any additional multipliers for base game wins it does appear on every reel and also triggers the bonus game when we land three of them anywhere across the five reels.

The Wild Scatter is also our top-paying symbol, and landing five across one of the game’s 10 paylines awards the top symbol payout of x5,000 our total bet. The Free Spins bonus awards an initial 8 free spins, which isn’t the most generous. But at the start of the bonus feature a symbol is chosen at random to become an expanding symbol, and this is where the Legacy of Dead slot really gets interesting.

If we land the special symbol on three separate reels, that symbol expands to cover its respective reel, awarding payouts whether the symbols fall adjacently or not. So we could have the special symbol on reels 1, 3 and 5 and still bag the payouts for that symbol stacked on reels 1, 2 and 3. If that wasn’t epic enough, the feature can be retriggered by landing another three Wild Scatters while the bonus round is active. And then another special symbol is awarded. And that’s when we head towards the game’s max payout.

Verdict

At first glance Play ‘N Go’s Legacy of Dead online slot might not raise too many eyebrows. It’s another Egyptian slot in a crowded genre. But Play ‘N Go delivers a masterstroke in the game’s Free Spins bonus round.
