It is not an exaggeration to say that the game design and graphics on display here are first class.

With such rich subject matter, so they should be, and BTG does full justice to Lewis Carroll’s original tale with a backdrop that oozes mystical atmosphere. The Caterpillar sits in a daze by the side of our reels, his shisha pipe by his side. Huge toadstools stretch out behind. It’s no surprise that the Queen of Hearts takes her place as the game’s top-paying symbol, with Rubies, Sapphires and Emeralds filling up the top players.

Other characters from the classic story - the Cheshire Cat, Tweedledum and Tweedledee, Dodo, Mad Hatter, Teapot and Tea Set appear on the reels, but only as accompaniments to stacked Aces through 9s, respectively.

Gameplay

Remember the clearly high Caterpillar? At any stage it can add up to four additional Bonus Wilds onto the reels, which substitute for all symbols except Scatters and Feature Drops and increase all involved combinations by 2 or 3 symbols.

The White Rabbit himself takes pride of place as our Scatter, triggering the Free Spins bonus feature when we land him three times. Now, we literally fall down the rabbit hole for the duration of the 15 Free Spins, earning wins as we go. Every time we land a Cupcake on any of the reels, that cupcake is replace by two game symbols, creating new Megaways wins and activating the Extending Reels feature.

Each Cupcake extends that reel by one symbol, but should any reel extend to 12 symbols high it retriggers the feature. Should we not wish to wait to land three White Rabbit Scatters we can opt to launch the feature by paying a fee to activate the Feature Drop.

Verdict

Along with the magical nature of Alice in Wonderland, Big Time Gaming also includes some of the classic tale’s danger.

When we activate the Feature Drop, that fee we pay depends on our stake. But, of course, we aren’t guaranteed winnings to cover the purchase price. “The rabbit hole is filled with untold treasures but also great danger!”
